Take Flight Farms
St. Monica's, a behavioral health treatment organization serving women, partners with Take Flight Farms to offer equine-assisted psychotherapy. About 80 women, including Cari, have worked with horses to learn more about communication and building relationships. The women then bring those skills into their personal relationships.
Cari started drinking and using drugs in high school. She sought recovery at St. Monica's where she participated in Project Mother & Child and the equine-assisted therapy program at Take Flight Farms. She is shown here with Boss, in her words, "the most stand-offish horse in the program". Cari was determined to make him like her. Cari has been sober since March 2015.
Cari and I visited Boss at Take Flight Farms about a year later. They had not seen each other since Cari completed the program.
